Streaming on 75” TV

Cancelling DirecTV because of significant price increase. The PSvue $79.00 bundle with HBO will most closely match my current programming. Youtube TV also an option. Worried that the picture quality on my 75” Samsung Q9 will take a hit. Any advice from users with a large screen? Thanks.

  1. Why not use the free trials of the services to find out how they look and if they meet your needs? It’s my number one advice to new users. Get the free trials and see what works best for you.

  2. I’ve unscientifically found that using the Vue credentials to log into the networks own apps tends to provide a less compressed stream than what Vue delivers in their app. At least as far as things like ESPN and Fox Sports go. Getting an antenna for OTA channels will give the best quality for those channels.

  3. If you put up an antenna, you’ll likely get better quality for your locals (at worst thesame for your locals as the streamers might compress your stream).

They have a free trail, so I’d try this and see how it is for you.

What streaming box are you going to use?

  4. Your picture quality shouldn’t take a hit just because it’s a large screen. As long as you stream at the maximum resolution supported by your tv, you literally can’t ask for more than that.

  5. My TV is “only” 65 inches but it’s also a Samsung Quantum Dot model, and the Mets/Cardinals game now playing on Fox Sports Midwest on YouTube TV looks every bit as good as it ever looked when I had DirecTV. I don’t miss DirecTV at all.
